After moving all my stuff to Syd's for the rest of my time, we hit the streets to sightsee and run a few errands. We stopped by Plaza del Toros again to see it in daylight, then walked around to take in the city. She took me to some of her favorite plazas, which were all unbelievable.
Finally, we went to Retiro Park, which was a lot like Luxembourg Gardens in Paris. It's her favorite part of Madrid, and I have no trouble seeing why. We ate lunch at a small cafe next to a pond (pictured below), where we each had a garnizado de limon, which was basically a delicious lemon slush, and I had a sandwich with smoked salmon and a mixture of soft cheeses with potato chips - all for 8 euros. Right? Throughout the lunch, there was a classical guitsrist playing by the water. At one point, he played Here Comes The Sun, and I found myself so grateful for this opportunity. God is so good.
We then met up with her friends from Baylor (Marshall, Hannah and Tyler) and went out on a rowboat on the previously mentioned pond. It was gorgeous outside, and we took a boat out for 45 minutes, for 4,85 euro. What? Ridiculously cheap and so fantastic.
After that, we walked around the park some more (and found some strange modern art displays) before heading back to Plaza Mayor and Plaza del Sol. We sat down for a sangria-like drink and talked for a while near Sol before hitting up the same market from last night (Mercado de San Miguel) and then went for gelato in Plaza del Sol. Again....delicious.

Now, Syd, Marshall and I are enjoying some wine on the roof of Syd's apartment building overlooking Plaza del Toros. Again - I could get used to this.
Tomorrow, we take a day trip to Toledo!
